Hawock is a pheasant introduced in “The Story of the Trial of El-ahrairah” in Watership Down. El-ahrairah convinced Hawock to help him trick Prince Rainbow into thinking that Hufsa was insane. El-ahrairah bribed him with some corn to swim around while Hufsa was watching. He told Hufsa that it helped his tail feathers grow longer.
